Please separate your loads according to the guidelines below.

You must have a token to utilize the Recycle Center. Tokens are available from the Town Hall Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 3:30pm or from the Town Clerk Mondays from 5pm until 7pm.

Remsen Recycling Program Procedures

Thank you for visiting the Recycling Center! Please read the following reminders of the procedures to ensure that your visit moves efficiently and safely.

Important Notes:

  • Please bring items in pick-up trucks or passenger vehicles ONLY. Do NOT bring loaded dump-trucks, old boats, junk cars, etc.
  • Items should be of manageable size as they will be unloaded by hand.
  • Do not pile your load in a hazardous manner. You will be traveling along Route 12.
  • Please use caution to avoid unsafe situations and do not place yourself or others at risk.
  • Please tarp your load to ensure items do not end up along the roads.

  • Recyclables
  • Appliances
  • Furniture
  • Household items
  • Construction debris
  • Green waste
  • Tires
  • Batteries
  • Computers
  • Televisions
  • Electronics

THE CENTER DOES NOT ACCEPT HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE (I.E. FOOD, DIAPERS, ETC.) OR HAZARDOUS WASTE.

Household hazardous waste (i.e., paint, motor oil, pesticides, chemicals) may be taken to the Oneida-Herkimer Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, Leland Ave. Ext., North Utica [April-September: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM- 2:00 PM]. For additional infonnation call the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority at 315-733-1224.

  • Do NOT use plastic bags for recyclables, USE BINS. Exception: Shredded paper may be placed in a clear plastic bag.
  • Recyclable containers must be washed clean. Labels do not have to be removed and you may include lids, caps or tops.
  • Load items according to the guide below.

Loading and Sorting Guide

Please load items so that they may be removed as you drive through the facility. Remember, the first items you load on your truck will be removed last!

This means, beginning at the cab and moving toward the tailgate, load in the following order:

  1. Construction Debris
  2. Tires
  3. Electronics
  4. Recyclables
  5. Batteries
  6. Household Items (Ex. Mattresses, furniture, clothing, etc.)

Absolutely NO FOOD/HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE or HAZARDOUS MATERIALS should be brought to the Recycle Center!!

Please place items in bins or boxes, not bags. Be sure to group like items together. Items need to be clearly visible so that they may be quickly placed in the correct area. This will ensure that everyone moves through the line quickly and safely!

Revisions to use of Town of Trenton Recycle Center

Town of Remsen Residents will now be using the Recycle Center on the 1 st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 3pm until 7pm

And on the 2 nd & 4th Saturdays from 8am until 4pm
